Oh, I’m Stressed!

stressed

This has been a ridiculous 24 hours or so.

I am a ball of stress.

Some of the stress is external due to circumstances beyond my control.

Some is from a pure lack of self control these past couple of months.

I think I am starting to really see my role in it.

Seeing it is never enough, though, is it?

I haven’t been posting because I always assume no one wants to hear me.

Maybe I shouldn’t care.

Can I not care, share, and still be kind?

Can I share the minutia of my life and maybe vent a little to help me on my own journey?

Is it selfish to share the burden or does misery truly love company?

(That saying, by the way, I love it. I always think of it as meaning when a miserable person has company they can be less miserable… and the miserable people can lighten the load of misery and everyone will be better off in the end together, making each other less miserable (Less Miserable is the less popular musical. Oh sure! Yup. It was off off off off off off off off Broadway. It never really found an audience, but I digress …), but I know it really means all the miserable people can be miserable together forever in their misery. How depressing! My way is much better! Plus, if you play your cards right there’s a shot at off off off off off off off off Broadway. So …)

Anyway, I guess I am having a bit of an epiphany (three months late, but whatever).

Maybe this space is really, actually, mine, and I should use it as I see fit regardless of what anyone thinks?

Hobby or not. It’s mine.

I should use it.

Maybe I will.

Maybe I’ll start tomorrow.

It’s only a day away.*

*Thing 2 had a Birthday last week. All she wanted was “Annie”. We watched it last night and I loved it.

Sorry, Wrong Number.

Phone

The following is a true story that happened today.

*rrriiiing*

*rrriiiing*

Me: Hello!

Dude: “HE WON’T BE COMING BECAUSE IT’S SNOWIN’ LIKE A  B@STARD, HERE.”

Me: *blink blink*

I’m sorry, but you have *got* to have the wrong number.

Dude: *audible gasp*

*chuckle*

“Oh my God! I’m SOOOO sorry!”

*laughter*

“I am so, so sorry. Sorry!”

Me: That’s all right. Don’t sweat it. I hope you find the person you’re looking for. Bye.

*disconnect*

Sometimes you just have to laugh – with a stranger, apparently.

I think technology is making us all a little bit .. umm .. well .. to use a phrase Thing 1 might use, “Well, doi!”.

What do you think?

Is technology making us ridiculous?

Has human interaction become foreign, somehow?

Do you think we are becoming to fellow humans, as these aliens were to the phone?

*This looks identical to the phone that was in my house when I was a kid.

**Little Known Peady Fact: My iThing rings like an old phone because the ring tone is – wait for it – “Old Phone”.

***Full disclosure: We are watching “Her” and I am having thoughts!

Grey Day

I was feeling rather Charlie Brown-y-ish today.

It’s way easier to look up when you know the sunshine will warm your cheeks.

On a rainy day there’s always a slight chance you will drown. *wink*

Charlie Brown is just so perfect on a rainy day.

How was your day? Are you a fan of grey days? Or are you solar powered like yours truly?

I found the comic above here. I knew what I was looking for comic-wise, but finding that blog was a real treat!

Charlie Brown & Peanuts by Charles M. Schultz are the property of Peanuts Worldwide LLC.

You can find a LOT of happy making Peanuts stuff here.

This is Planet Hoth

Oh, April darling. You are the funniest month yet. I just can’t get enough of your amazing sense of humour and jovial, bringing-all-the-yuks-all-the-time ways.*

Yes. It is April Fool’s Day. Yes. Atlantic Canada is having another spring storm. Oh, I know that it’s “winter” weather, but a few days ago in a brief moment of clarity, in the 35 minute window of calm, before yet another storm front, a friend decided maybe Spring was feeling snubbed with all the “Winter” storm reporting and was merely waiting for a mention, to take its place in the limelight, so I stopped saying winter. Yes. Even though there was a blizzard blowing outside my window.

Did it work?

It totally did!

APRIL FOOLS!!!

Of course it didn’t work, because this winter is NEVER going to end. EVER!

We are at home yet again. It’s Tuesday. That’s a refreshing change** from Wednesday, isn’t it? The school buses were cancelled and as per our policy*** so, too, was school.

We knew there would be freezing rain today, but we really didn’t believe it would be followed by more snow and blowing snow and falling snow and snowing snow and snow snow snow snow snow! Oops! Sorry. Forgive me. It’s all been a bit much to handle.

Thank goodness for Things who know how to entertain themselves****, a husband who can work from home when the weather is stormy and a sense of humour that is firmly in place, because otherwise I would absolutely be adopting hermitage as a valid life choice. I live pretty close to the edge of hermitage, these days, anyway. I mean, it’s not like I can go anywhere in this yucky weather and we have enough cereal for a Seinfeld episode, so we won’t starve. Maybe we should just take that final leap?

Meanwhile, life on Hoth is not all that bad.

It’s always bright.

There’s no shortage of ice for our drinks.

We hear the Tauntauns are arriving any day now.

So far no one has been frozen to the ceiling.

I’m just going to wait here for Han Solo to rescue me.

So, how was the weather where you live today?

Please tell me it was spring-like.

Like Obi-Wan, you might be my only hope!

*Lilith Sternin implied.

**There has been a “weather event” every Wednesday since December (pretty much) in The Maritimes.

***It’s in the manifesto!

****There was a Disney Channel marathon, some CPU time, an awesome animal rescue invention building session, some reading, a game of “Guess Who? Mix n’ Mash”, and a rousing game of “Can You Escape?”. Yup.

And snow on and snow forth…

March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Oh, yeah. Suuuuuure it does.

IMG_7756

A very blustery view. Thankful to be inside, safe and warm.

IMG_7757

I had such hope for these planters and solar lights. *sighs*

IMG_7758

As the day went on, the buildings across the street began to vanish.

IMG_7759

The snow doesn’t usually cover the patio this way. You can (maybe) see evidence of the plow, but that was gone pretty quickly.

*sings* This is the storm that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends. Some clou-ouds started snowing it not knowing what it was and they’ll continue snowing it forever just because…. This is the storm that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends. {There will be a *very* short video of the blizzard here as soon as it’s processed by YouTube. One assumes there is a backlog of blizzard, snowpocalypse, snowmageddon, sprinter videos for poor YouTube to process. That’s okay, YouTube. I understand.}

*head desk*

It is now 12:45 AM and the blizzard still blows.

The only question on my mind at the moment is whether or not Thing 1 and Thing 2 will have school later today. I am predicting a repeat snow day.

What do you think?
